First step on the way to Italy: San Francisco!

Like the dog that caught the car, we had our offer accepted on a lovely condo in San Francisco this morning.  Woo hoo!

Thankfully, we still have three months here in Park City so we have a little time to catch our breath, and to prepare for a very important wedding in the family over Labor Day, but after that, it is San Francisco here we come.

The location is ideal, across the street from a beautiful gym, above a market and next to a Starbucks.  It is in a level part of San Francisco, just below Coit Tower, along the Embarcadero so we are an easy stroll to the Ferry Building with its abundant farmer’s market and a short trolly ride to the Giants’ Ballpark (a key deciding factor for one of us.) It is not big, but it is big enough.  We are both really excited.

I find myself thinking about fog horns, dungeness crabs, musty old book shops and jogs along the Marina Green.  It is a life I left years ago, flying east to seek my destiny.  As I have traveled and lived far away, I always felt a tether, as thin as a spider web and just as strong, tying me to this beautiful city. It is part of what made me strong, like my family, and my friends.

And now, it draws me gently in, home, again.

I don’t think this is an end to the story.  Rather, it feels like a new beginning, the beginning of a great series of chapters that include the new love in my life, new pursuits and soon, a home in Italy as well.  It is all a dream come true, literally.

I continue to think I have really pulled one over on the universe, to find such happiness and peace at this point in my life.  And having lived through some ups and downs, I am keenly aware how fleeting happiness can be.

But, darn, it is sweet while it lasts!

Congratulations on the first step of your newest adventure! Great location on the sunny side of town! Brings back great memories of when Stan and I lived in North Beach and belonged to the Bay Club. Now you can walk over the hill to brush up on your Italian and practice your bocce ball! SF is such a beautiful city with great energy, along with being a short drive to wine country, beach, and Lake Tahoe. Happy for you.

I am so happy for you both! Congratulations and we’ll have to meet for drinks in the city sometime to celebrate!

    Barbara,

It was so wonderful having lunch with you and Kim yesterday. I can’t imagine two better places for you two to spend your lives together. If anyone deserves this type of happiness, it is certainly you and Kim. Meeting you and having you as sort of a mentor this past year has certainly been a blessing. You have inspired me in ways unimaginable and your guidance has been something I truly cherish. I would love to see you before you leave, maybe get a sneak peak at some of the wedding details or pick your mind for some more advertising tips. Enjoy the rest of this beautiful summer, wherever it may take you :)

There is NOTHING better than Dungeness crab, except maybe fresh sour dough to go with it. Congrats on your new apt in one of the best cities in the world!
